Ultra Early Sativa (UELsativa x UELsativa x UELbrother) – Early Outdoor Sativa with Colombian Roots

Ultra Early Love (UEL) is a remarkable outdoor cannabis strain with traits rarely found in other varieties. First and foremost is its intense aroma, which remains present even after drying. The plant also produces compact, resilient buds and delivers a long-lasting effect. Due to its high light sensitivity, it typically finishes by late September to early October at 52°N.

I received this plant in 2016 for further breeding, marking the beginning of a close relationship. What intrigued me most was its Colombian origin, as I was searching for the ideal outdoor Sativa—hoping this could be the “holy grail.” While the plant grows beautifully, the high starts off with a Sativa lift but soon turns more introspective.

The Birth of UELsativa

In 2018, I discovered a thin-leafed phenotype that not only grew faster but also had distinct physical and energetic traits. I named it UELsativa. It wasn’t always easy to grow—it needs ample root space and doesn’t flower well if root-bound—but the unique Colombian-style high made it worth preserving.

I’ve since kept the plant through regular cloning and outdoor regeneration. The high is clearly Sativa-leaning and offers a classic experience, especially for those used to Indica or hybrid strains. Personally, I found it a bit too lingering in the aftereffect, which is why I prefer to work with it in crosses.

Breeding Goals & Progress

My goal was to preserve the UELsativa’s special traits in seed form. After two years of selective inbreeding, I produced a stable line with both male and female plants. This season, I selected several males to pollinate my best females. The resulting S1 line still shows some variation, but the effect of the original mother is clearly present.

The mother plant has since been replaced by a selected clone from her own seed line, now referred to as UES “B11”. To distinguish this line from the more introspective UEL phenos, I renamed it Ultra Early Sativa—while maintaining its genetic heritage.
