Purple Paro Valley (Mandala Seeds) – Feminized Landrace Sativa from Bhutan
Purple Paro Valley from Mandala Seeds comes from a sativa landrace that Mandala collected wild in Bhutan’s Paro Valley at 2,500 m. The feminized hybrid is only two generations removed from its wild ancestors. It has inherited the toughness of its home: dry spells, monsoon rain, strong winds and cold Himalayan winters.
What is Purple Paro Valley?
The plants keep part of the diversity of their landrace. About 75% show the purple phenotype with long internodes and a flexible, slender build. The green phenotype stays shorter, ripens earlier and forms more compact buds.
Thanks to the hybridisation, the yield is higher than that of the original landrace.

Where does Purple Paro Valley grow best?
Mandala lists it as a pure outdoor strain. Its genetics are adapted to natural sunlight and do not thrive under artificial light. Outdoors it needs very little care and is very frugal with nutrients. That makes it suitable for guerrilla sites and remote spots without regular care.
Growing: what to expect
The outdoor harvest falls in October, and it can be grown up to about 56° north. It copes with cold better than most modern strains, and its mould resistance is exceptionally high. That makes it a fit for humid sites and a backup next to higher-yielding strains such as Mandala #1.
- In containers, sow late and prune to limit size
- Remove the lower shoots to strengthen the upper branches
- For more yield, give it room to become a large, branched plant
Aroma
Most plants have a spicy green-lime scent inherited from the Paro landrace. The “Candy Girl” phenotype smells strikingly of sweets. Dried buds show sweet mint and hazelnut, the green type leans towards lavender and some purple plants recall black tea.
The hash oil goes its own way: fresh, sweet and balsamic like Himalayan cedarwood.
Effect
The breeder states more than 11% THC, and 27.5% as oil, rosin or wax. The high is mostly deeply relaxing up to couch-lock and suits winding down at the end of the day.
Who it’s for
Purple Paro Valley suits landrace collectors and outdoor growers in the north who want a cold- and mould-resistant backup.
