Bunkerlinge Seeds – Baglung Nepalese Line B | 5 Generations of Climate Adaptation
Baglung Nepalese Line B – A Himalayan landrace selected over 5 generations in Germany. Starting from the original Baglung Nepalese (Blue Hemp), selection was consistently focused on early maturity, cold resistance, and reliability under German outdoor conditions. Climate-adapted for Central European conditions beyond the 50th parallel.
The Genetic Timeline – From Line A to Line B
Line A (2016) – The Foundation:
In 2016, our first own reproduction was created from 5 retail packs of the original Baglung Nepalese by Blue Hemp. The best plants were open-pollinated – this Line A forms the genetic foundation for all subsequent developments at Bunkerlinge.
Line B (2016-2024) – 5 Generations of Climate Adaptation:
Starting from Line A, selection was consistently focused over 5 generations on the traits that matter for German outdoor climates. The 2024 keeper female represents the current state of this adaptation work and serves as the foundation for further breeding projects such as Baglung Love Rush F1 and TouchMa UEL.
Origin & History
This rare landrace strain originally comes from the Baglung region in the Nepalese Himalayas. Blue Hemp has collected and preserved this genetic line since the 1980s and successfully adapted it to Swiss and Central European climates.
At Bunkerlinge, the line has been further refined since 2016: through 5 generations of German outdoor selection, Line B emerged – a climate-adapted version optimized specifically for growing conditions beyond the 50th parallel.

Selection Goals Across 5 Generations
The consistent selection work behind Line B focused on the following traits:
- Early maturity: Reliable finish from mid-September to early October – before the critical autumn frosts
- Cold resistance: Handles cool September nights and temperature swings without issue
- Mold resistance: Robust bud structure for damp German autumn conditions
- Reliability: Consistent performance under Central European outdoor conditions
- Characteristic Himalayan traits: Pink-to-violet color development at cooler night temperatures
Important: Through this selection work, we know exactly which traits and aromas we no longer want. This knowledge feeds directly into new projects like Baglung Nepalese 2025 (Lines C & D).
Botanical Specifications
- Genetics: Mostly sativa (Himalayan landrace, 5 gen. selection)
- Type: Regular cannabis seeds
- Origin: Baglung region, Nepal (Blue Hemp, since the 1980s)
- Line: Line B – 5 generations of climate adaptation since 2016
- Plant height: Up to 4 meters outdoor
- Growth habit: Tall-growing with characteristic sativa structure
- Flowering time: 60-70 days
- Outdoor harvest: Mid-September to early October
- Climate suitability: Specifically for Germany & Central Europe (beyond the 50th parallel)
Aroma Profile
During flowering, Baglung Nepalese Line B develops striking pink to violet bud colors typical of Himalayan strains. This coloration is encouraged by cooler night temperatures and gives the strain its characteristic visual appearance.
The aroma profile shows fruity-berry notes with a bubblegum character combined with earthy, hashy undertones – classic for Nepalese mountain landraces.
Important Germination Notice – Please Read Carefully
Our seeds are extremely light-sensitive. We therefore strongly recommend germinating them exclusively under the natural light cycle. Even if your fingers are itching to get started in spring – be patient and don’t start the seeds before early May.
For germination, we recommend the following methods:
- Direct sowing: Sow directly at the final outdoor location
- Small greenhouse propagation: On a windowsill (using natural daylight!) or sheltered outdoors
Why Not Indoor Pre-Growing Under Artificial Light?
We strongly advise against any indoor pre-growing under artificial light. The reason lies in the high light sensitivity of our genetics:
- Indoor, seedlings are typically lit on an 18- to 20-hour light cycle
- The natural light cycle, however, has not yet reached its maximum in spring – outdoors, 18 to 20 hours of daylight are never reached
- When plants are moved from the long artificial light cycle into the significantly shorter natural outdoor cycle, they respond to this abrupt shortening by forming flowering hormones
Important to understand: This reaction is not an indication of semi-autoflowering or autoflowering genetics, nor of any such introgression – it is simply the result of the pronounced light sensitivity of our lines. This very sensitivity is the actual goal outdoors: shortly after the longest days of the year (summer solstice), the plants reliably respond to the decreasing day length and initiate flowering.
A plant that already shows flowers in spring, however, will not properly recover from this stress and will stay small – effectively wiping out the entire yield.
If the seeds are instead germinated consistently under the natural light cycle, they develop into vigorous outdoor plants that, with ideal care, easily reach 2 meters – more likely 3 to 4 meters – in height, provided nothing artificially holds them back.
Cultivation
With a flowering time of 60 to 70 days and a harvest window from mid-September to early October, Line B is particularly well suited to outdoor cultivation in Germany. The high resilience to cool autumn weather developed over 5 generations makes it a reliable choice for Central European climate conditions.
Indoor cultivation is not recommended, as the strain has been bred and adapted exclusively for outdoor conditions. The characteristic traits – particularly color development and aroma profile – express themselves best under natural conditions.
The 2024 Keeper Female
The 2024 keeper female represents the current peak of 5 years of selection work. This plant combines all the desired traits of Line B and serves as the genetic foundation for further breeding projects:
- Baglung Love Rush F1: Keeper female × Ultra Early Love F6
- TouchMa UEL: Keeper female × Baglung Love Rush F1 (backcross)
- Baglung Nepalese 2025 Line D: Keeper female × Line C males (backcross)
Breeding Applications
Baglung Nepalese Line B is more than just a strain to grow – it’s a breeder’s tool:
- Crossing partner: Ideal foundation for outdoor hybrid projects
- Climate resistance inheritance: 5 generations of adaptation passed on
- Color genetics: Pink-violet Himalayan colors for crossing projects
- Introducing early maturity: Brings reliable September harvests into other lines
Who Is Line B For?
- Outdoor growers in Germany & Central Europe: Developed specifically for our climate
- Landrace fans: Authentic Himalayan genetics with European adaptation
- Breeders: Proven crossing partner with 5 generations of selection work
- Collectors: Documented preservation breeding with a clear genetic timeline
Availability
Baglung Nepalese Line B is included as the foundation in various Bunkerlinge projects:
- Baglung Love Rush F1 – F1 hybrid with Ultra Early Love F6
- TouchMa UEL – Backcross for reinforced early flowering
- Baglung Nepalese 2025 – Contains Line D (backcross with re-selection)
Conclusion
Baglung Nepalese Line B represents authentic Himalayan genetics, optimized for German outdoor climates through 5 generations of consistent selection work. Starting from the original Blue Hemp genetics, a robust, reliable line has emerged that was developed specifically for Central European growing conditions beyond the 50th parallel.
This climate-adapted landrace strain offers outdoor enthusiasts not only a reliable choice for German cultivation, but also a valuable breeding foundation for further projects. The 2024 keeper female embodies the current state of this work and is used in several Bunkerlinge hybrids.
