ThaiMav (Maverick S1 X autoWildThailandryder) F1 – Early Outdoor Strain with Classic Skunk Aroma
ThaiMav is a particularly interesting early outdoor cross that combines robust Thai landrace characteristics with fast-flowering genetics. This F1 hybrid delivers remarkable results, even under Northern European conditions. The experienced British breeder Muds awarded it 10 out of 10 points after a full season.
Field Report from the Breeder
Muds describes his first-hand impressions:
“The smell is simply overwhelming – an intense, rotten, fermented skunk scent without any fruity notes. You could smell it from 50 meters away! The plants were harvested about two weeks late, but out of 30 plants, I found only one small spot of mold – truly impressive. A real old-school strain, and everyone who tried it said the same thing. I’ll be growing this strain on a large scale this year.”
Appearance Flower Structure
The buds are dark green with purple hues and covered with a fine layer of small trichomes. The leaf-to-calyx ratio is average, the density solid, and the overall appearance classic and appealing.
Aroma Flavor
The scent is intense and reminiscent of skunk, cheese, and diesel – completely in the old-school style, without any fruity notes. Not suitable for growing areas near inhabited regions, as the aroma intensifies even more during drying. After curing, a sharp, sour garlic flavor develops, which is very pleasant.
Outdoor Performance
Harvesting is possible as early as the end of August at 52° north latitude. However, it is recommended to leave the plants until mid or late September – they tolerate this without problems and benefit in aroma and yield.

Important Notes for Very Early Strains
- Transplant early: The plants should remain in small pots for a maximum of 3 weeks. If the roots become constricted, they start flowering early and never fully recover.
- Pay attention to weather: These strains flower during the phase with warm nights – ideal for quality. However, during rainy periods during flowering, the risk of mold increases. These strains offer high quality but also carry a certain risk. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket – diversity protects the harvest.
