Khalifa Genetics – Aladdin’s Skunk | Original Skunk#1 IBL from the 1970s
Aladdin’s Skunk by Khalifa Genetics is a true-breeding inbred line of the original Skunk#1 – developed by Sacred Seed Co in the early 1970s and preserved by the underground community since the late 1980s. One of the very first indoor strains ever created, with exceptional genetic stability, a sweet-fruity aroma profile and high trichome production.
History & Origins
Aladdin’s Skunk descends from the original Skunk#1 strain developed by Sacred Seed Co in the early 1970s and later continued by the Super Sativa Seed Club. Sam the Skunkman brought Skunk#1 seeds to Holland in 1982, where the Super Sativa Seed Club began working with them. Due to its good yields and exceptional stability, hundreds of breeders used Skunk#1 as a foundation for new crosses – including Jack Herer, Critical and Super Silver Haze.
Aladdin’s Skunk is a selection of Skunk#1 preserved in its pure form. It is an inbred line (IBL) with both genetic and sex stability. All plants display a similar scent, bud structure and flowering time – an exceptionally uniform strain, aside from varying final height.
The Aroma of the Original Skunk#1
Contrary to popular belief, the original Skunk#1 does not smell pungent – it is very sweet and lightly fruity. The name reflects the 1970s and 1980s trend of naming strong-smelling plants accordingly. What is known as Roadkill Skunk (RKS) is not a Skunk#1 line but a distinct strain in its own right.
Indica & Sativa Characteristics
Although Aladdin’s Skunk flowers very quickly and forms rather dense flower clusters, it displays elegant foxtail buds that reveal its sativa heritage. Plants stretch more than most afghanicas and the buds are quite long. Both indoors and outdoors, Aladdin’s Skunk flowers very quickly – plants are typically harvest-ready by late September.
In the second half of the flowering phase, many specimens develop leaves with double serration. Growers can expect a high calyx-to-leaf ratio and high trichome production. The resin glands are very sticky and oily. Aladdin’s Skunk is also easy to trim and delivers excellent bag appeal – glistening, sticky flowers with vivid orange pistils.
Aroma Profile
The terpene profile closely mirrors the scent: very sweet with fruity undertones – full-bodied, expressive and unmistakably old-school.
