Khalifa Genetics – Tirah Maidan Hash Plant | Pakistani Indica Landrace from the Khyber District
The Tirah Maidan Hash Plant by Khalifa Genetics originates from the remote Tirah Valley in Pakistan’s Khyber District, close to the Afghan border. This authentic hash plant landrace impresses with exceptional resin production, a classic old-school terpene profile and a robust, easy-to-grow structure.
The Tirah Maidan Region
The Tirah Valley is located in what is now Pakistan’s Khyber District at over 2,000 metres above sea level and has a centuries-long history of small-scale cannabis cultivation and traditional dry-sift production. Pashtun tribes, particularly the Afridi, brought the plant to the region approximately six hundred years ago. Since then, cultivators have continuously selected for resin production – making Tirah one of Pakistan’s most significant traditional resin-producing regions.
Tirah resin is particularly renowned for its extremely oily and sticky consistency. Traditionally produced as Garda – dry-sifted from large, resin-saturated flowers – it ranks among the highest-quality traditional resin products of the region.
A Centre of Genetic Diversity
The Tirah Valley sits in a transitional zone where cannabis populations develop particularly diverse characteristics. Accordingly, the Tirah Maidan displays exceptional genetic diversity. Plant morphology varies considerably: approximately 30% of plants grow taller with narrow leaflets, giving them a wilder, highland appearance. The remaining plants are bushier and more strongly indica-leaning.
Common to all phenotypes are unusually large calyxes, abundant bracts and a dense trichome coverage. Many plants also display beautiful natural colouration – a particular draw for pheno hunters and breeders seeking rare, authentic genetic expressions.
Aroma Profile
The terpene profile is unmistakably old-school, dominated by classic hash notes, tea and coffee aromas alongside nutty, musky, earthy and spicy undertones – a deep, complex bouquet reflecting centuries of selection for resin quality.
Growth Characteristics
Tirah Maidan plants are robust, resilient and easy to cultivate. As light feeders, they are well adapted to challenging environments – a reflection of generations of rain-fed mountain farming.
- Indoor flowering time: approx. 9–11 weeks
- Outdoor harvest: Early to late October
- Structure: Ranging from compact and bushy to tall and narrow-leafed
- Nutrient requirements: Low to moderate
Due to their genetic diversity, most plants display pronounced vigour and robust growth.
Preservation & Reproduction
Pakistani-British strain hunter Tokecity collected the original seeds directly on location in Tirah Maidan, North Tirah, and made them available to Khalifa Genetics. The Khalifa Genetics team has since conducted a careful reproduction run – with the goal of producing fresh seeds while simultaneously improving sex stability, preserving the original genetic diversity as fully as possible.
Khalifa Genetics – Tirah Maidan Hash Plant: One of Pakistan’s most diverse and resin-rich hash plant landraces, carefully preserved and optimised for modern cultivation.
