California Dream (Mandala Seeds) – Feminized Old-School Hybrid from Mexico and Afghanistan

California Dream from Mandala Seeds is a feminized old-school cross of Mexican and Afghan genetics. The Mexican side brings the lively sativa temperament, the Afghan side brings resin, substance and the classic taste. The plants grow very uniformly and forgive mistakes.

What is California Dream?

According to Mandala, plants from seed are remarkably uniform in height, appearance and bud development. So you do not have to balance out very different phenotypes.

Growing: what to expect

Flowering takes 65 days and starts quickly after the switch to 12/12. After three to four weeks of vegetative growth in soil under standard lighting, the plants reach about 1 m. The even growth suits SOG well and also has potential for SCROG.

It copes unusually well with little light, and even 200 W HPS or low-power LEDs give good results. More light raises the yield. It likes a balanced soil without much nitrogen and is not a heavy feeder. The conical, resin-soaked buds keep fattening up until harvest, and mould resistance is high.

In SOG, remove the shoots at the bottom three internodes
Outdoors, grow it only where the weather stays good until mid September, proven up to 50° north
In the north, keep an outdoor strain as a backup for a wet autumn
Yield per the breeder: 450–550 g/m² indoors in organic soil, 1,000 g per plant outdoors

Aroma

Mandala describes the aroma as minty and herbal with candy and musk notes. After harvest, the Mexican-Afghan heritage shows in the old-school taste of the smoke.

Effect

The breeder states 17% THC. The high comes on quickly and spreads through body and mind. It brings a cheerful sense of well-being with sativa flair, without nervous side effects.

Who it’s for

California Dream suits beginners as well as experienced growers who want uniform plants for SOG or SCROG. Even under weak lighting it remains a reliable choice.
