Hashberry (Mandala Seeds) – Haight-Ashbury Indica × Kashmir
Hashberry from Mandala Seeds crosses an indica from Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco with genetics from Kashmir in North India. High Times readers voted it into their top 10 soon after its release. More than 20 years later it is still in demand, heat-tolerant, forgiving and rated “hard-2-kill” by Mandala.
What is Hashberry?
The story begins in late-1980s San Francisco, where accidentally pollinated indica buds from Haight-Ashbury produced seeds. These gave rise to the Hashberry mother plant. Mandala later crossed her with its J7 father from the landrace hybrids that also went into the Sadhu line.
The name points to both: the resinous buds with their berry aroma and Haight-Ashbury as the origin of the Californian seeds.

Growing: what to expect
Flowering takes 60 to 65 days, with the outdoor harvest from late September to October. Indoors, Hashberry forms a compact, heavy main cola and dense buds on sturdy side branches. Its medium height suits small spaces and SOG.
Outdoors it grows into a low, broad bush with very heavy colas. Record harvests are possible in a temperate climate or a mild autumn. In cool regions such as Oregon it does best in a greenhouse. Despite the heavy resin, it is easy to trim.
- Indoors: 500 g/m² dry yield in organic soil (breeder’s figure)
- Outdoors in the ground: 850–1,000 g per plant
Aroma
In flower Hashberry smells fruity and floral. After drying and curing it develops the hashy berry aroma that recalls blackcurrant jam. On many plants even the leaves around the buds are densely coated with trichomes, which gives plenty of material for resin extraction.
Effect
The breeder states 18.5–22% THC. The indica high comes on quickly, starts slightly in the head and then turns into a deep, relaxing body stone.
Who it’s for
Hashberry suits growers with little space, outdoor growers in temperate regions and anyone who works with resin.
