Mix of Baaba Qo Selection – Afghan Landrace Diversity in One Pack
The “Mix of Baaba Qo Selection” combines seven original landrace strains from different regions of Afghanistan – personally collected by Baaba Qo. This package offers access to unaltered seeds from highlands, lowlands, and traditional hashish regions.
An Overview of Afghanistan – and Its Strains
Afghanistan is not only a geographical mosaic of altitudes, valleys, and climates – it is also one of the last countries where cannabis has been preserved for generations as a cultivated plant. In many remote valleys, the cultivation of old, resin-rich strains still continues – with region-specific traits, aromas, and growth characteristics.
The “Mix of Baaba Qo Selection” brings together exactly this diversity: It contains randomly assembled seeds from seven regions of Afghanistan, all pure, regular landraces, personally collected by Baaba Qo.
Included lines:
- Badakhshan – Highland line from the northeast (Hindukush)
- Panjsher – Notorious valley north of Kabul (Hindukush massif)
- Dayma – Lower elevation continental strain from Tashqurghan (north)
- Chimtal – Lowland line from Balkh province (northwestern plains)
- Mazar (Kasha Paz) – Classic Balkh strain with historical trade ties
- Sholgar – Northwestern lowlands with a strong hashish reputation
- Qandahar – Resin-rich, dark-scented line from the country’s south
Strain Diversity & Phenotypes
This package does not offer uniform genetics, but rather an open field of traditional variability: Each seed carries its own traits – shaped by the microclimate, cultivation tradition, and selection practices of the farmers from whom Baaba Qo sourced these genetics.
- Height & structure: From short and bushy (Qandahar, Sholgar) to tall and vigorous (Panjsher, Badakhshan)
- Flowering time: Between 8 and 12 weeks
- Color expression: Some strains display purple or black leaves in cold conditions
- Resin production: All lines have been traditionally cultivated for hashish production
Aroma Profiles & Processing
The included strains offer a rare spectrum of natural terpene profiles. Aromas can range from:
- Fresh & spicy (e.g. Dayma, Chimtal)
- Diesel & leathery (e.g. Qandahar, Sholgar)
- Sweet-resinous (e.g. Mazar)
- Herbal & earthy (e.g. Panjsher, Badakhshan)
All included strains show strong resin production. The plants are suitable for traditional dry sifting or hand processing. They develop oily, stable trichomes – ideal for classic hashish production.
Effect Experience (Traditionally Described)
Cannabis plants from the included Afghan regions have been used in various cultural contexts for generations – especially in the form of traditionally made hashish. Not every strain was used in the same way: regional origin often shaped how the plant was experienced socially or ritually.
Based on historical sources, oral traditions, and modern user reports, a broad spectrum of potential effects emerges:
- Highland strains like Panjsher or Badakhshan were considered clear and meditation-friendly
- Qandahar or Sholgar more physical and calming
- Chimtal and Dayma were often perceived as balanced
Note: These descriptions are based on traditional experiences. They are subjective and not intended as medical advice.
Germination & Cultivation Notes
As all included strains are undomesticated wild seeds from original populations, germination behavior can be irregular. In their natural environment, many seeds only sprout after one or more winters – an adaptation to extreme climate conditions.
To increase germination rates, we recommend artificial cold stratification: Store the seeds at –18 °C (0 °F) for several weeks to simulate natural winter dormancy. Then pre-soak them in lukewarm water or on moist paper for 12–24 hours before placing them in loose, well-aerated soil.
This method helps break natural dormancy and improves the chances of strong, uniform seedlings – especially with wild-collected populations like those in the Mix of Baaba Qo Selection.
Who Is This Pack For?
This seed mix is not a standardized product, but a living archive of Afghan genetics. It is intended for:
- Breeders seeking original genetic stock
- Collectors interested in unaltered cannabis heritage
- Hashish lovers exploring authentic resin profiles
- Outdoor growers looking for resilient, regionally adapted plants
Conclusion
The Mix of Baaba Qo Selection is not a commercial uniform product – it is a piece of living cultural history. It connects regions, microclimates, and farming practice at the seed level. Each plant tells its own story – from a field in Panjsher, a valley in Sholgar, or a slope near Mazar.
To sow this mix is to plant a mosaic of Afghan cannabis identity – original, diverse, and increasingly rare.
