Bunkerlinge Seeds – Baglung Nepalese 2025 | Aroma Re-Selection × Climate-Adaptation Backcross
Baglung Nepalese 2025 – A unique seed mix combining targeted aroma re-selection and a strategic backcross. Maximum genetic diversity, exceptional aroma spectra, and new color expressions for the next generation of sativa outdoor hybrids. Only 55 packs available.
Preservation Breeding With a Vision
This limited edition is part of a long-term breeding project focused on the preservation and refinement of the Baglung Nepalese genetics. Our overarching goal: to preserve a diverse, robust Himalayan line that serves as a first-class crossing partner for the next generation of sativa outdoor hybrids.
The Genetic Timeline
Line A (2016) – The Foundation:
Out of 5 retail packs of Baglung Nepalese came our first own reproduction. The best plants were open-pollinated – this line forms the genetic foundation for all subsequent developments.
Line B – 5 Generations of Climate Adaptation:
Starting from Line A, selection was consistently focused on early maturity, cold resistance, and reliability under German outdoor conditions. Last year’s keeper female represents the current state of this adaptation work. Important: Through this work, we know exactly which traits and aromas we no longer want – and this knowledge feeds directly into the re-selection.
Line C (2025) – Back to the Origin With a New Strategy:
Instead of continuing linearly, we went back to Line A. This time with a clear focus: preserving and maximizing genetic diversity. We weren’t just looking for exceptional aromas, but also different effect profiles, new color expressions, and phenotypic breadth. From the very beginning, plants were pre-selected by stem rub and rigorously sorted by aroma – everything we’d identified as undesirable through the Line B experience was consistently culled.
Diversity as a Breeding Goal
For the re-selection (Line C), the focus wasn’t stabilization but the deliberate preservation of genetic differences. We were looking for:
- Exceptional aroma profiles: peach, strawberry, mango, Hubba Bubba bubblegum, hashish, woody notes, anise, pinene (forest-pine)
- Different effects: from the clear sativa high to more nuanced effect profiles
- New color expressions: beyond the familiar pink-violet tones
- Structural diversity: different growth habits, bud structures, ripening times
Anything herbal, peppery, or known to be undesirable from Line B was consistently culled. What remained: a genetically broad, aromatically exceptional line with maximum selection potential.
The Strategic Backcross – Line D
The keeper female from Line B (5× climate-adapted) was pollinated by males from the Line C re-selection. This backcross combines:
- Genetic refresh: bringing lost diversity back into the adapted line
- Hybrid vitality: combines proven climate resistance with new genetic breadth
- Breeder’s tool: ideal starting point for your own selection and crossing projects
- Sativa hybrid potential: perfect crossing partner for upcoming outdoor projects
This is the Line B keeper female from 2024, pollinated by the Line C males to create Line D

What’s in the Pack?
Each pack contains a mix of two lines:
- Line C: open-pollinated re-selection – maximum diversity, exceptional aromas, new color expressions
- Line D: backcross (Line B keeper female × Line C males) – diversity meets climate adaptation
This combination offers the best of both worlds: genetic breadth from the re-selection plus proven outdoor traits from the adapted line.
Extremely Limited – Only 55 Packs
This seed run took place under difficult conditions. Only 55 packs in total exist of this unique mix – an absolute rarity. Each pack documents a turning point in our Baglung breeding history: the moment we deliberately brought genetic diversity back, to keep the line open and vital for generations to come.

Important Germination Notice – Please Read Carefully
Our seeds are extremely light-sensitive. We therefore strongly recommend germinating them exclusively under the natural light cycle. Even if your fingers are itching to get started in spring – be patient and don’t start the seeds before early May.
For germination, we recommend the following methods:
- Direct sowing: Sow directly at the final outdoor location
- Small greenhouse propagation: On a windowsill (using natural daylight!) or sheltered outdoors
Why Not Indoor Pre-Growing Under Artificial Light?
We strongly advise against any indoor pre-growing under artificial light. The reason lies in the high light sensitivity of our genetics:
- Indoor, seedlings are typically lit on an 18- to 20-hour light cycle
- The natural light cycle, however, has not yet reached its maximum in spring – outdoors, 18 to 20 hours of daylight are never reached
- When plants are moved from the long artificial light cycle into the significantly shorter natural outdoor cycle, they respond to this abrupt shortening by forming flowering hormones
Important to understand: This reaction is not an indication of semi-autoflowering or autoflowering genetics, nor of any such introgression – it is simply the result of the pronounced light sensitivity of our lines. This very sensitivity is the actual goal outdoors: shortly after the longest days of the year (summer solstice), the plants reliably respond to the decreasing day length and initiate flowering.
A plant that already shows flowers in spring, however, will not properly recover from this stress and will stay small – effectively wiping out the entire yield.
If the seeds are instead germinated consistently under the natural light cycle, they develop into vigorous outdoor plants that, with ideal care, easily reach 2 meters – more likely 3 to 4 meters – in height, provided nothing artificially holds them back.
What to Expect When Growing
This mix is a genetic treasure trove for selection work:
- Maximum phenotype diversity: different aromas, colors, structures, effects
- Selection potential: find your own keepers for further breeding or crossing projects
- Climate-adapted genes: Line D brings 5 generations of outdoor experience into the mix
- Breeder’s tool: ideal base for your own sativa outdoor hybrid projects
- Color expressions: new, previously unseen expressions are possible
This strain was bred exclusively for outdoor cultivation. The characteristic bud colors develop at cooler night temperatures. Indoor growing is not recommended.
Who Is This Edition For?
- Breeders looking for diverse crossing partners for sativa outdoor projects
- Pheno hunters with experience in selection work
- Outdoor growers who value genetic diversity
- Collectors of authentic Himalayan landrace projects
- Preservation breeders focused on genetic breadth
Conclusion
Baglung Nepalese 2025 is more than a strain – it’s a breeding statement. Instead of linear stabilization, we deliberately preserve genetic diversity. This mix of aroma-focused re-selection (Line C) and strategic backcross (Line D) offers maximum potential for your own keeper hunts and crossing projects. As a crossing partner for the next generation of sativa outdoor hybrids, this line brings exceptional aromas, new color expressions, varied effect profiles, and proven climate adaptation. With only 55 packs worldwide, this is the most limited and breeding-wise most valuable release of our Baglung line.
