Neue Deutsche Hecke F1 – Sativa Power for the German Climate
Deutsche Hecke sounds like compost-heap weed? It does. That’s exactly why this one is called NEUE Deutsche Hecke (“New German Hedge”) – and clears out the old prejudices. Belgian outdoor genetics with years of selection meet my Baglung Love Rush, and out comes a sativa monster with a lime-honey aroma instead of basement funk. Brand new and field-untested – but both parents are outdoor champions, and the genetics harmonize perfectly. Not a gamble, but a plan.
Quick Info:
- 6-way hybrid with a strongly sativa-dominant character
- Mother: (Mextiza × UEL) S1 – Outdoorking breeding work
- Father: Baglung Love Rush F1
- Aroma: Lime-honey with buttermilk-lemon notes, fruity-earthy
- Character: Clearly sativa-dominant, lively and clear-headed
- Outdoor-suitable for the German climate – fast maturity, high mold resistance
- Specifically developed for Central European conditions beyond the 50th parallel

Genetics & Origin of Neue Deutsche Hecke F1
Neue Deutsche Hecke F1 unites two exceptional outdoor lines with impressive genetic depth:
Mother Line: (Mextiza × UEL) S1 – by @arnold / Outdoorking
The mother genetics are a Mextiza × UEL S1 by Outdoorking breeder Arnold. Yes, they were feminized seeds – and some of you may not be entirely happy that I started this project with feminized seeds. But this particular cross is a jewel and a masterpiece by my Belgian colleague, one that also reliably finishes beyond the 50th parallel. Every single seed turned into a great plant.
Excellent work by Arnold: he found a Mextiza that isn’t just fully sativa-leaning, but also finishes in the Belgian climate. He crossed her with a carefully selected, outdoor-suitable Ultra Early Love sativa line developed over several years – a keeper mother was then selfed, and the Mextiza pollinated with the resulting pollen.
The Mextiza by Cannabiogen – Charlie Garcia’s Masterpiece
The Mextiza itself is a cross of NepalJam F6 × Oaxaca ’79 by Cannabiogen – a masterpiece by Charlie Garcia. For this line, Charlie sourced three rare landraces:
- Jamaican Blue Mountain ’85 – collected in 1985 from the Blue Mountains of Jamaica and acclimatized in Spain
- Nepal Highland – a robust highland sativa from Nepal
- Oaxaca ’79 – a legendary Mexican landrace
The Jamaican Blue Mountain was crossed with the Nepal Highland and stabilized over 6 generations to F6 with a backcross to the Nepal: (Nepal Highland × Jamaican Blue Mountain ’85) × Nepal Highland. This stabilized NepalJam F6 was then crossed with the legendary Oaxaca ’79.
The Mextiza combines high mold resistance and fast maturity – sometimes just 50 days of flowering – with classic sativa traits – perfect for European outdoor conditions.
The Ultra Early Love (UEL) – Sativa Selection by Reeferman & Arnold
The Ultra Early Love (UEL) by Reeferman was selected by Arnold over many years specifically for sativa traits and outdoor suitability. It contributes light-driven early flowering, reliable stability, and compact outdoor performance.
Despite its G-13 (indica clone) and Santa Marta Colombian Gold (sativa landrace) heritage, years of selection have given it distinctly sativa-dominant characteristics.
Mextiza × UEL S1 – An Outdoor Beast for the German Climate
Mextiza × UEL is a beast if you let her run: the plant in the photos lived in a 0.5L pot right up until just before flowering and was then planted into the open ground. She’s covered in sticky resin and produces exceptional sativa buds with a lime-honey aroma reminiscent of Cornetto Buttermilk Lemon ice cream.
It borders on a miracle to pull this off in Germany, in the open without rain protection, “fully backed” – and that is owed entirely to Arnold’s careful work.
There are several years of work and a clearly pursued, well-executed plan behind this line, and you can tell. Anyone who knows the Mextiza × UEL S1 is happy to compromise their ethics for it – this isn’t quick copy-and-paste crossing, this is real breeder’s craftsmanship.
Father Line: Baglung Love Rush F1
The three males that got to pollinate these ladies come from my Baglung Love Rush F1, which has fortunately turned out to be one of my best outdoor hybrids – a true F1 hybrid from the keeper mother Baglung Nepal 2024 (true-to-type) × Ultra Early Love F6.
The two lines pair excellently together; only the homogeneity of the Baglung Love Rush could be a bit better.
The Baglung Nepal 2024 brings color, mold resistance, fast flowering initiation, and a short flowering time into this cross, plus fruity, berry, bubblegum, and earthy-hashy aromas.
The Ultra Early Love F6 once again provides reliable early flowering and outdoor stability – reinforcing the traits already present in the mother line.

Technically speaking: a 6-way hybrid from six different origin lines with a strongly sativa-dominant character, thanks to years of targeted selection.
Growth & Structure of Neue Deutsche Hecke
There is really absolutely no doubt that something special will come out of this cross – on the contrary: I plan to stabilize her toward mostly sativa traits, always fully outdoor-capable – this will take several years.
So Neue Deutsche Hecke is “the beginning” – the cornerstone of the project has been laid.
Aromas & Character of Neue Deutsche Hecke F1
Aroma Profile: Lime, Honey, and Buttermilk-Lemon
The aromas combine fruity, berry, and bubblegum notes with earthy, hashy undertones and a characteristic lime-honey profile reminiscent of a Cornetto Buttermilk Lemon wafer ice cream cone – a lively blend of the best traits from both parent lines.
Sativa-Dominant Character
The character of this line is clearly sativa-dominant – typical of classic sativa landraces with their lively, clear-headed nature.
Important Germination Notice – Please Read Carefully
Our seeds are extremely light-sensitive. We therefore strongly recommend germinating them exclusively under the natural light cycle. Even if your fingers are itching to get started in spring – be patient and don’t start the seeds before early May.
For germination, we recommend the following methods:
- Direct sowing: Sow directly at the final outdoor location
- Small greenhouse propagation: On a windowsill (using natural daylight!) or sheltered outdoors
Why Not Indoor Pre-Growing Under Artificial Light?
We strongly advise against any indoor pre-growing under artificial light. The reason lies in the high light sensitivity of our genetics:
- Indoor, seedlings are typically lit on an 18- to 20-hour light cycle
- The natural light cycle, however, has not yet reached its maximum in spring – outdoors, 18 to 20 hours of daylight are never reached
- When plants are moved from the long artificial light cycle into the significantly shorter natural outdoor cycle, they respond to this abrupt shortening by forming flowering hormones
Important to understand: This reaction is not an indication of semi-autoflowering or autoflowering genetics, nor of any such introgression – it is simply the result of the pronounced light sensitivity of our lines. This very sensitivity is the actual goal outdoors: shortly after the longest days of the year (summer solstice), the plants reliably respond to the decreasing day length and initiate flowering.
A plant that already shows flowers in spring, however, will not properly recover from this stress and will stay small – effectively wiping out the entire yield.
If the seeds are instead germinated consistently under the natural light cycle, they develop into vigorous outdoor plants that, with ideal care, easily reach 2 meters – more likely 3 to 4 meters – in height, provided nothing artificially holds them back.
Who Is Neue Deutsche Hecke For?
A strain for cannabis lovers, sativa freaks, and anyone who just wants to grow plants simply and without fuss, plants that finish outdoors, bring joy, and leave an impression.
Neue Deutsche Hecke F1 is particularly well suited for:
- Outdoor cultivation in Germany and Central Europe
- Breeders who value sativa genetics
- Growers looking for mold-resistant plants
- Lovers of classic sativa aromas
Future Plans: Stabilization and Further Development
Neue Deutsche Hecke will later also serve as a crossing partner, to be crossed for example with the sativa landraces already present in her pedigree.
The point is to preserve the character of these sativa plants and to alter it as little as possible with the crossing partners, while making them outdoor-capable, mold- and cold-resistant.
Conclusion: Neue Deutsche Hecke F1 – A Strain With a Future
Neue Deutsche Hecke F1 is an ambitious project with a clear goal:
- A new outdoor sativa for the German climate
- 6-way hybrid with a strongly sativa-dominant character
- Lime-honey aroma with buttermilk-lemon notes, fruity-earthy
- Combines legendary genetics: Mextiza, NepalJam, Oaxaca ’79, Baglung Nepal
- Easy to grow, reliable outdoors
- Cornerstone for long-term stabilization on sativa traits
- High mold resistance for the Central European climate
A strain for anyone who wants to prove that German outdoor cannabis is Fire.
